Assembly Process Modeling Through Long Short-Term Memory
2021
This paper studies Long Short-Term Memory as a component of an adaptive assembly assistance system suggesting the next manufacturing step. The final goal is an assistive system able to help the inexperienced workers in their training stage or even experienced workers who prefer such support in their manufacturing activity. In contrast with the earlier analyzed context-based techniques, Long Short-Term Memory can be applied in unknown scenarios. The evaluation was performed on the data collected previously in an experiment with 68 participants assembling as target product a customizable modular tablet. We are interested in identifying the most accurate method of next assembly step prediction…

Relations entre les variations climatiques, les perturbations du cycle du carbone et les crises de la production carbonatée : application au Crétacé …
2011
The Early Cretaceous is punctuated by carbon cycle perturbations, associated with organic matter burial episodes and carbonate production crises. These events coincide with short-term cooling (<1Ma), yet the mechanisms are still unclear, because of low resolution in sea surface temperature reconstructions. Recent climatic models suggest that carbonate-platform-collapse events may trigger a short-term ocean cooling episode (Donnadieu et al., accepted). In order to establish relations between climates and carbonate productions, we performed stratigraphic, palaeoecologic and geochemical analyses on Valanginian sediments from the La Charce-Vergol and the Ollioules sections (South-East France) a…
Mašīnmācīšanās pielietojums sporta notikumu prognozēšanā
2017
Vienā no simulācijām tiek sasniegts pozitīvs rezultāts, sezonas laikā algoritms gūst 65% peļņu.
Commentary: "Nitric oxide releases Cl(-) from acidic organelles in retinal amacrine cells".
2015
In their recent article (Krishnan and Gleason, 2015) Vijai Krishnan and Evanna Gleason investigate the cellular mechanisms underlying the shift in the GABA reversal potential upon application of nitric oxide (NO). Functional alteration in GABAergic signaling by alterations in the GABA reversal potential has been identified as an important mechanism of plasticity (Raimondo et al., 2012) and NO is clearly one key substance involved in plasticity (Prast and Philippu, 2001). Therefore, the investigation of the mechanisms behind the NO induced shift in GABAergic effects is an important issue. However, in my opinion the authors neglected a possible explanation of their observations in the discuss…
Were Prestigious Independent Directors Responsible for the Subprime Crisis?
2018
We study the independence ratio, as well as the prestige, reputational incentives, experience, and financial expertise of independent directors for 767 U.S. banks from 2000 to 2015, to concentrate on causes of the subprime crisis: short-termism, poor monitoring, and excessive risk-taking. We find that higher independence ratios decrease the monitoring quality of the board, increase short-term incentives for the CEO, and promote greater subprime risk-taking. Our results thereby suggest that, while official responses to the subprime crisis claim that banks were not independent enough, rising independence ratios following Enron and Sabanes Oxley were a major contributing cause of the subprime …
Relationship between the Clinical Frailty Scale and short-term mortality in patients ≥ 80 years old acutely admitted to the ICU: a prospective cohort…
2021
Abstract Background The Clinical Frailty Scale (CFS) is frequently used to measure frailty in critically ill adults. There is wide variation in the approach to analysing the relationship between the CFS score and mortality after admission to the ICU. This study aimed to evaluate the influence of modelling approach on the association between the CFS score and short-term mortality and quantify the prognostic value of frailty in this context. Methods We analysed data from two multicentre prospective cohort studies which enrolled intensive care unit patients ≥ 80 years old in 26 countries. The primary outcome was mortality within 30-days from admission to the ICU. Logistic regression models for…
Modification of depressant and disinhibitory action of flurazepam during short term treatment in the rat
1972
Employing a fixed-interval schedule of reinforcement (temporal discrimination), alternated punished (fixed-ratio) and unpunished (variable-ratio) schedules of reinforcement, a Conditioned Avoidance Response, and studying its interaction with Pentobarbital on general anaesthesia, it has been shown that flurazepam hydrochloride after a single treatment induces very intense depressant effects and slight disinhibitory effects. Short term treatment at longer than daily intervals reduces the depressant effect and unmasks the disinhibitory effect. The phenomenon is probably caused by selective tolerance concerning the depressant action. The results are discussed from the point of view of the signi…
Influence of short-term aging on mechanical properties and morphology of polymer-modified bitumen with recycled plastics from waste materials
2020
Polymer-modified bitumen (PMB) is bitumen that has been specifically engineered with polymer for providing enhanced performance in service. The aging of bitumen is a main aspect that is able to affect its final performance: during the production phase in a hot mix plant, all the binders experience short-term aging due to the high processing temperature. The same is true during the production of the modified binder, when the polymer is dispersed at high temperature in the bitumen mass. This paper aims at studying the effect of short-term aging when using different types of modifiers such as recycled polymers obtained from waste materials. A 50/70 penetration-grade bitumen has been modified, …
